The COVID-19 pandemic has sent shockwaves through communities, businesses and families. Over the past several weeks, 84% of our offices/centers transitioned to remote service delivery while seeing historic levels of worker displacement across multiple industries.
The RWS Service Delivery Team, comprised of seasoned workforce professionals with a broad range of subject matter expertise, has been instrumental during this time. In collaboration with our operations, funders and partners, the team led initial pandemic response efforts prioritizing health and safety, business continuity and transition to remote services.
With support from other local and regional operational experts, the Service Delivery Team held 113 webinar training sessions since mid-March with over 16,700 attendees. Topics included: Self-Care, Addressing Anxiety; Best Practices and Tips & Tricks for Working from Home; Successful Case Management using Videoconference; Supervising Remote Workers; Best Practices in Remote Quality Assurance; Building Your De-Escalation and Service Recovery Skills; Best Practices in Virtual WIOA Eligibility and Enrollment; numerous Job Corps specific sessions; and many more topics relevant to our work and the current situation.
In March, RWS released Essential Education’s online Work Essentials curriculum. Work Essentials helps students find and keep their dream job, and then impress their employer and coworkers. This six-unit online course is positioned for the high school equivalency candidate, as well as adults who have their high school diploma but have not been successful at getting the job they want. Course modules include:
- Finding a Good Job
- Making a Good Impression
- Working With Others
- Good Communication
- Solving Problems at Work
Our goal is to continue to support operations with expanded offerings, additional training on relevant topics and access to a robust library of resources.
